We dont seek the ordanary

We see images when something grabs our attention. In this image we expect trees, particularly pine trees, to grow straight upwards, so when we see one growing at an angle, it immediately feels different and naturally stands out.

Our job as photographers is then to bring out the best in that image. We can do this by looking at it from different angles and heights, experimenting with composition and camera settings to see whether there is a stronger way to capture what first caught our eye. Sometimes, it means returning at a different time of day, when the light has changed, or even in completely different weather. The same subject can become an entirely different image simply because the conditions have changed.
